    Remembering Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his 369th birthday
    Shiv Jayanti was celebrated at Crescent High School & Junior College on Wednesday, 19th February 2020. The function started by welcoming the guest. Ms Salma Mujawar compered the function. Mrs Farah Daruwala lighted the diya and paid homage with the garland to the portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Ms Yasmin Khuteja delivered a speech in English and enlightened the audience with Shivaji’s greatness. Mrs Jagtap delivered a speech in Marathi on the life of Shivaji Maharaj. Students of Standard 8th Neha Kore and Ayesha Shaikh delivered speeches to mark the day. The dignatories on the dias were Mrs Farah Daruwala, Ms Nilofer Shaikh, Ms Nadia Shaikh, Mr Saeed Mujawar and Mr Zahoor Shaikh. The celebration started by singing National anthem and ended by Vande Mataram. The celebration concluded with Vote of thanks.

    SCIENCE LAND AND ART WORLD AT CRESCENT HIGH SCHOOL

    Science involves trial and error. Scientist refine theories each day. But as they do, they help us grasp more clearly the wonders of the world and the universe. –  Tony Snow

    Crescent High School and Junior College celebrated Science Day on 29th February 2020. The theme for the exhibition was ‘Women in Science’. The two days celebration was held in the school premises. One day for Quiz Competition and the main day as Science Exhibition. The exhibition was inaugurated by Ex – Crescentian Mr. Swapnil Shinde, VP Syska LED. The judges for the event were Mr. Rushad Daruwala, Mrs. Roshanara Daruwala, and Mr. Abdul Azeem Shaikh.

    Around 87 exhibits were displayed in the event. A total number of 223 students from Std Ist – XIth displayed many creative ideas. They showcased static and working models which can be used for learning various scientific concepts. The exhibits included chocolate machine, Hammer Action Grinder, Heron’s fountain, Hydraulic crane, River clearing machine, Ghat accident preventer, Pani Puri Vending Machine, Ropeway Vikram Lander etc. The students who viewed the various projects and experiments had a wonderful learning experience. Principal Mrs. M. A. Daruwala blessed the students for a bright future. Vice – Principals – Mrs. Farha Daruwala and Mrs. Heena Daruwala guided the teachers and students throughout their preparations. Co-ordinators Ms. Nilofer Shaikh and Mrs. Nadia Shaikh along with the In-charges Mrs. Nikhatara Shaikh and Mrs. Anisa Attar planned and implemented the whole event. Mrs. Aafiya compered the program. The Principal appreciated the entire team of Science and Art department, all teachers and students for putting in the efforts and making the exhibition a grand success.

    The exhibition brought out the ability to innovate, to manifest ideas into reality and present them effectively and efficiently.

    Our students of standard 7th got an opportunity to visit Market Yard post office on Monday, 1st July 2019 to be part of Digital Campaign’s 4th Anniversary. Students were warmly welcomed by them.
    They gave information about their work, new products, Services etc. Major topics covered included the importance of writing correct address and pin code. Aadhar card Services provided and also about their amendments and new applications. Importance of saving from an early age and types of accounts that they have. Pursuing Philately as a hobby.
    It was an interactive session and great learning for all of us. They distributed chocolates to all the students on the way back to school. Teachers who participated were Mrs Salma, Mrs Ruksana Sayyed and Mr Mujahid.Sincere gratitude to School management, Principal and our Vice Principals who gave us this unique opportunity. Indeed it was a fruitful visit.

    *Yoga Day Celebration at Crescent *
    The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June at Crescent High School & Junior College to bring peace, harmony, happiness and success to every soul. This was a great opportunity to imbibe the value of discipline in our students. The Chief Guest for the celebration was Ms Nilofer Shaikh. She has experience of 39 years in the field of education. Ms Nilofer gave the importance of Yoga in our lives. Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day. Children got the chance to know how yoga embodies unity of mind and body. The students of classes 8th, 9th and 10th with the teachers performed Yoga between 7:50 am and 8:10 am. Different yoga postures like Vrikshasana, Uttaanaasana, Trikonaasana, Chakrasana, Tadasan, Bhujangasana were performed by our students. Students also performed Suryanamaskar and finally ended with Pranayama and meditation. Prayers were recited before and after the programme. Heartfelt thanks to our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi for giving an opportunity for schools to celebrate the International Yoga Day. Ms M.A. Daruwala marked the occasion with her blessings. The celebration took place successfully under the guidance of Ms Farha Daruwala and Heena Daruwala and leadership of Ms Nadia Shaikh, Ms Rubina Shaikh and Mr Mujahid Raily.

    Spell Bee Competition

    The best of gains is achieved through investment in knowledge. Crescent High School has cracked it right! Aiming at creating awareness on usage of varied words in oral expressions and then adding them to active vocabulary of students, we have done it!
    The participants were able to spell the words correctly with unflinching ease. The ‘ARENA OF SPELL’ came alive with various rounds. The competition was tough but indeed it was a learning experience as they dueled the toughest word with ease. Great spell skills were exhibited by the students of grade 1-8. The spellers were so enthusiastic and so were the English teachers.
    The school spirit was high as 8 students were selected for the state level competition which was scheduled on 28th October at Maharashtra Mandal. Master Affan Shaikh from category 4 secured 8th position in Maharashtra with selection for National level Spell Bee Competition.

    Cancer often creates fear which comes out of ignorance and misconception. More than 30% of cancer cases could be prevented by modifying lifestyle or avoiding key risk factors. Crescent High School and Junior College held a workshop to raise awareness of cancer symptoms, cancer prevention and to support people to make lifestyle changes that can help reduce their risk of cancer. Mr Gurdeep Singh from Cancer Aid Society briefed our students. Indeed it was an informative session.

    National Unity Day Celebration
    Surpassing the celebrations in recent years, the National Unity Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal at Crescent. An unified ambience prevailed as the programme started with  a speech given by a student on Sardar VallabhBhai Patel. Various competitions took place throughout the day. Students actively participated in essay writing competition, slogan writing competition and drawing competition. Students were in their high spirits and paid homage to ‘Iron Man Of India’.
    Run for Unity took place with slogans from Crescent School to Thakur bakery at Maharshi Nagar and again back to school.
    The day ended with a thought in everybody’s mind that United we stand and divided we fall.
